Reviews of The Moving of Mountains

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw
Executive Chairperson, Biocon Limited & Biocon Biologics Limited

"A captivating and inspiring narrative that captures the extraordinary evolution of Agastya from a fledgling startup to a courageous, transformative movement overcoming all odds."

Arundhati Bhattacharya
Chairperson & CEO, Salesforce India & Former Chairperson, SBI

"A truly remarkable story.  Agastya's journey is one we can all learn from - its mission is one we should all try and be a part of."

What does it take to spin an idea into a vision, to build that vision into an organization of world-beating excellence, and to inspire that organization to evolve into a movement?

Today, the Agastya International Foundation reaches creative and interactive science and art learning to nearly 5 million underserved children a year.

The Moving of Mountains is the story of Agastya. It serves as an inspiration not just for social entrepreneurs looking to thrive in the non-profit space, but also for anyone that wishes to understand the transformative learnings that allow a world-class organization to grow from the ground up. It illustrates how, by combining a purity of purpose with a fiercely unapologetic corporate ethos, an institution can have meaningful, continual impact on a massive scale. Finally, it showcases how a team that is infused with excellence and clarity of vision will consistently deliver results of heartwarming consequence.

Written by Adhirath Sethi, The Moving of Mountains has been praised by thought leaders, policy makers and captains of industry for its gripping and inspirational narrative. In an insightful foreword, Dr. A.S. Kiran Kumar, Former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, compares Agastya’s story as an organisation to that of India’s recent Chandrayaan 3 mission - a journey of discovery, exploration and innovation that faced many hurdles, yet culminated in ground-breaking success that has impacted millions across the country.

About The Moving of Mountains

Adhirath Sethi

Meet the author

Adhirath Sethi is the author of two novels, Where The Hills Hide Their Secrets and The Debt Collector’s Due, besides a collection of threaded short stories, A Wicked Plan For A Cricket Fan. He realised very early on that people are less likely to judge you for wasting time writing than they are for when you play video games.

A former management consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, he took an all too eager plunge into entrepreneurship in 2008, only to be immediately confronted with the financial crisis. He took to writing as a way to keep sane during this time. His first book – The Debt Collector’s Due – was published by HarperCollins and draws on his own experiences with hiring debt collectors to recover funds for his business.

As an individual he hopes to remain as uncomplicated as possible, most unlike what he expects of his stories. Despite all the experiences afforded to him by a childhood spent in boarding schools, he is an introvert whose ultimate daily ambition is to go home early. He is an alumnus of The Rishi Valley School, Eton College and the London School of Economics. He is currently settled in Bangalore.
